EDIT: Over the past year, we have received so many questions and inquires about FTLO, that we decided to reach out to see if we could collaborate with them!

With that being said take $100 OFF your next FTLO trip with the discount code NCTRAVELS

Do you want to travel solo, but hesitant to travel overseas by yourself? Or maybe you want to go on a trip and just want to remove the planning aspect of it all?

Well, if this is you, then FTLO travel should be on your radar!

FTLO travel is a laid-back group travel experience that caters to working professionals. This company prides itself in being able to support those that want to travel solo, but may not want to travel alone. With over 15 countries to select from, each trip caters to offering adventures and cultural immersive experience.

After recently coming back from Costa Rica with FTLO, I wanted to recap my experience to help share why you should book your next trip with them as well.

I did the 5-day Costa Rica trip with FTLO in February 2022.

I will say this was my first time doing a group travel experience catered to working professionals, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect going into it. All I knew was that I needed to escape the cold, wanted to meet like-minded individuals and just get out of the country!

Who is FTLO Travel For?

FTLO caters their trips toward working professionals within the 25-39 age range. So on your trip, you will find a mix of individuals from different industries, whether it be healthcare, tech, marketing, law, or even real estate.

Whether you are a frequent traveler or even new to traveling, everyone will enjoy the FTLO tour experience. Overall, I would say that they are more focused on a laid-back travel. If you take the time to explore their Instagram page, you see that each trip caters to different things, but all focus on adventure and cultural immersive experiences.

My Experience

I did the 5-day Costa Rica tour in February 2022, and it was fantastic! Literally, I remember getting back to the states and really recapping the trip and thinking that was hands down one of my favorite trips.

There were 14 of us in total, not including our travel guide. I thought the group size was perfect, as it wasn’t too small nor too large.

Throughout the trip, we did a handful of different adventurous activities, like zip lining, surf lessons, catamaran, and ATV riding. Each one offered a unique challenge, but regardless, it always ended in nothing but laughter among the group.

Zip lining was hands down my favorite activity because not only was it a lot of fun, but it was fast-paced. There were about 9 different lines that you go down each overlooking amazing views through the Parque Nacional Guanacaste. So if you decide to go to Costa Rica, then you should most definitely check this spot out.

The Cost

Booking the Costa Rica trip through FTLO cost about $1,600. The cost included all hotel accommodations, in country transportation for activities, group activities, and certain meals.

The only additional costs that were not covered were the flight costs, additional excursions and drinks that were outside of the group meals. When considering additional activities, meals and drinks, I would estimate that I spent an additional $350. But to be honest majority of that money went to eating and additional excursions. Seriously, I am a major foodie, so I was trying as many local dishes and drinks as possible!

Overall, the money was well worth the cost. Although my FTLO trip cost around $1,600, the average costs for the FTLO trips can range anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on which country is selected.

Our Trip Leader

When you go on an FTLO trip, one benefit is that a local guide joins the tour with you. This helps with the overall experience, especially when you are in a foreign country where you’re not familiar with the language.

Our guide Laura literally was the most amazing person ever! As a Costa Rican local, she was extremely knowledgeable about the area and provided tons of insider tips.

Not only did she help to organize all the onsite activities, but just her overall demeanor and presence brought so much positivity to the overall trip. Seriously, she was amazing and spending time with her; we could learn so much more about the Costa Rican culture.

FTLO Travel COVID Policy

To travel with FTLO, you must receive a negative COVID test 72 hours prior to flight departure. In addition, all travelers are required to purchase travel insurance in advance, which is fantastic. Seriously, if you are traveling internationally, purchasing travel insurance should always be at the top of your list!

Another area that I really have to applaud FTLO travel for handling in advance was the onsite COVID testing in Costa Rica. When internationally travel in order to return to the US, all travelers are required to have proctored COVID test completed prior to returning. Depending on where you are traveling, this can sometimes be difficult; however, FTLO arranged for a physician to come to the hotel, which helped to make this process seamless for everyone.

Would I recommend FTLO Travel?

I would 100% recommend traveling with FTLO! The overall experience was well worth it!

If I’m being honest, going into the trip, I really did not know what to expect. I even remember arriving in Costa Rica and reality sitting in when I realized I was going on vacation with 13 complete strangers! But by the end of the trip, I had made some pretty amazing friends, and it turned out to be one of the best things that I could have ever done.

Another major benefit is that even though it was a group travel, there were still plenty of opportunities to travel solo! I could venture into town and find some cool coffee shops, explore the street market, and even go off out of town to explore the surrounding areas.

I am beyond grateful for the experiences that I have gained through this trip and cannot wait to go on another with this group!
